At BWP Ltd, we use traditional render on a regular basis, matching extensions up to existing parts of a property, patching up older, large properties or to make a new property blend in with its more traditional neighbours. Not only does traditional roughcast render have aesthetic benefits, it also maintains longevity and is a more cost-effective method than newer, through colour rendering systems due to the materials needed.
Traditional roughcast render consists of plastering sand, granite chippings and general- purpose cement. To apply the render, a sand and cement scratch coat would be applied by hand for the second coat to adhere to. The second coat of plastering sand, general purple cement, granite chippings and water are the applied over the top using a dashing trowel to give a rough finish. Clients may wish to have the render painted to suit the property.
At BWP Ltd, we have specialists in different areas of plastering, rendering, dry wall and SFS and the man who knows all there is to know about traditional render is Daniel Wright, aka, 'Danny the Dasher'! Danny's 40 years of expertise in traditional render are invaluable here at BWP Ltd in an industry where styles are forever changing. Although some people say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, in this case, we wouldn't want to! Although traditional roughcast render is still a service that is in demand, there are few companies that are able to offer this service.
